SFH Schulthess

Extension of a residential building from the 50s in a unique location in Pfeffingen.

This single-family house, built in the 1950’s and surrounded by a huge garden, is located in a unique setting. One side of the property borders the agricultural zone of Pfeffingen, while steep cliffs dropping to the Laufental are at the back of the house.

The ground floor of rather small original house was enlarged with a generous living area enclosed by glass on three sides. This establishes a connection of the interior over a wooden deck to the openness of the surrounding country. The new kitchen, although located within the original house and separated from the living area by a bar/counter area, is able to share in the new openness of the addition.
