RICHARD BURDETT is Professor of Urban Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science and Managing Director of the 'LSE Cities' and 'Urban Age' projects. From 2001 to 2006 he worked as an architectural consultant for the City of London. He curated several exhibitions on the theme of the 'Global City' for the Tate Modern. In 2006 he was director of the Venice Architecture Biennale. He lectures on the versatility of megacities.
