Barbara Rentsch
Barbara Rentsch studied architecture at ETH Zurich and graduated in 1989. She then worked as an architect in design, construction and project management in various architectural firms, most recently as a member of the management team at Dorenbach AG Architekten in Basel. In 2007, she completed the "Master of Science in Real Estate CUREM" extra-occupational training course in property management and joined Immobilien Basel-Stadt as a project developer in the direct property investments portfolio. She later headed the Financial Assets department from 2009.
From 2012 to 2015, she supported Pierre de Meuron at Herzog & de Meuron in his role as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director, in strategic corporate development and in property management. She then took over as Head of Portfolio Management at Immobilien Basel-Stadt in 2015. Following her election by the cantonal government, she became Managing Director of Immobilien Basel-Stadt in August 2021. The three portfolios of administrative assets, financial assets and direct real estate investments with a market value of around €11 billion are managed as an owner representative in the overall mandate with 85 employees and further developed in line with the cantonal legislative objectives.
