Bernhard Leitner studied architecture at the Vienna University of Technology and is today one of the most internationally recognised artists in the field of 'sensually and acoustically tangible architecture'. As a pioneer of sound art, he worked in New York from 1968 to 1982, first in the Department of City Planning, then as Associate Professor at New York University, after which he lived and worked in Berlin until 1986. From 1987 to 2005, Leitner was Professor of Intermedia Art at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
