School Construction Forum Northwestern Switzerland
School buildings with their interior and exterior spaces are of fundamental importance for everyday life and education. They influence learning and teaching. Schools, architecture and administration must recognise these interrelationships together and take a simultaneous, interdisciplinary and cross-departmental approach when planning and building educational and living spaces.
Numerous schools are currently being remodelled or newly built, particularly as a result of HarmoS. Space plays a role in learning for life. Learning spaces must emerge from the functions of teaching. Schools and their surrounding neighbourhoods can benefit from each other as a network. When planning, schools, architecture and administration should work together in an integrated manner from the outset. There is still a lack of harmonisation between didactic requirements and architectural space. This applies to educational and school buildings from primary level to universities.
The School Construction Forum offers practical knowledge, problem-solving approaches and networking for the remodelling and new construction of schools as well as for the design of educational spaces. It takes into account extended forms of teaching and an educational organisation that also encompasses the community, the city or the neighbourhood. Interested parties from schools, architecture and administration discuss and understand the interaction between spaces on the one hand and learning and teaching on the other.
