Blaser Architekten, together with Nakamura & NAP Architekten, Tokyo, Vogt Landschaftsarchitekten, Schnetzer Puskas Ingenieure and Transsolar Klima Engineering, were one of a total of 11 teams commissioned to carry out a study for the extension of the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen.
The planned new building will be located in the Iselin-Weberscher Park in the neighbourhood of the existing museum building in the Berowergut. Like the existing museum complex, the extension will also be embedded in a beautiful landscaped park. The new building can thus be perceived as a complement to the museum and yet still have its own identity and profile. It will provide additional space for the development potential of Switzerland's most visited art museum and enable uses that are not possible in the existing, fully utilised building designed by architect Renzo Piano.
