MFH Dornacherstrasse

Following the decision to build a new replacement building, six new flats were built on a narrow plot close to the railway station and city centre. The target group was commuters, couples and tenants who appreciate the urban location and want to live in a modern and clearly recognisable building. Between the solidly built neighbouring properties, the glass façade with its colourful, playfully arranged sun protection screens, which refract the light at an angle, creates a delicate accent. The floor-to-ceiling glazing allows the lively street side and the quiet garden side to be experienced from the inside.

Privacy screens on the inside, sun protection on the outside and soundproofing measures on the windows ensure the residents' intimacy. In the floor plan, we endeavoured to achieve a loft-like living character through diagonal visual references, an open kitchen, variable room usage options and above-average room height. For the colour and material design of the flats, the open-space qualities of simplicity, durability, variability and naturalness were the specifications for the details. The staircase conveys a rougher, materially authentic atmosphere thanks to the exposed concrete and the rusted steel banisters.
