Beach volleyball and soccer hall

Due to the construction of the new Luzernerring motorway junction as part of the construction work on the northern bypass, the floors had to be removed from the western abutment of the Luzernerring bridge in St. Johann and the bridgehead had to be provisionally underpinned. After completion of the tunnel under the bridgehead, which previously housed a cycling hall and a carpentry workshop, a beach hall measuring 25.50 x 17.50 x 6.50 metres was installed. To remodel the beach hall, 500 m2 of concrete walls and 700 m2 of concrete ceilings had to be demolished. These were replaced by new pre-stressed steel beams. Clear, simple rooms and room sequences form the basic framework of the design. Warm colours and materials create a calm atmosphere under the hectic traffic on the bridge. Uniform, consistent surfaces emphasise the clarity of the building and connect the individual areas with each other. The structure of the exterior façade was left as an exposed concrete façade in order to preserve the character of the bridge abutment.
