Novartis Campus WSJ-360 5th floor

The structures of the 16-storey laboratory and office building from the 1970s, which is laid out on a square floor plan, are characterised by the very large, artificially lit core area with a surrounding corridor.

The main focus of the conversion of the fifth floor into a multi-space office was therefore on connecting this dark, sealed-off interior zone to the outside world. The solid shaft panelling that ran along the entire corridor area and separated the offices on the façade from the interior was replaced with translucent plastic multi-skin panels, and the meeting rooms in the core zone were connected to the corridor by floor-to-ceiling glazing. Indirect lighting in the shafts serves as corridor lighting. The remodelling was carried out during ongoing operations.
